Crock members participated in a jazz music teaching workshop featuring some fine music instruction and schooling from Mel Brown in Bend, Oregon. Mel Brown Jazz Drummer is well known for his work with Martha and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and more. Here’s some highlights:
[Photo] Cascades Rock Ensemble Drummer Steven George picking up a few pointers from Mel on the proper swing technique. All drummers got a chance to play, as did dozens of other kids on a variety of instruments. The workshop was kindly put on by the Jazz at the Oxford Series and is free of charge for young musicians to participate. Check it out here.
Special thanks to directory Georges Bouhey for orchestrating the chaos. And thanks to Mel Brown Jazz Drummer who is a true Gentlenman of Jazz musician and organizes a Music Camp for young musicians to learn and teach music which you can check out here.
And here’s a brief video from the very end showcasing all the participating young people who came out to play and learn drums, horns, keys, guitar, bass, and more. The tune of the day was the infamous Bags’ Groove off Miles Davis 1957 release. Enjoy!
